IDFC FIRST Bank, IIMCIP Launch ₹2 Crore Startup Incubator

  • IDFC FIRST Bank and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park launch a ₹2 crore incubation programme for 16 sustainability-focused startups. The initiative provides grants, mentoring and ecosystem support to help ventures scale solutions in cleantech, waste and green manufacturing.

IDFC FIRST Bank has partnered with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) to launch a pan-India incubation programme aimed at supporting startups developing solutions for sustainability and the circular economy. The initiative, launched under the bank’s IGNITE social innovation programme, provides a total support corpus of ₹2 crore for selected ventures.

The programme focuses on startups working across green manufacturing, recycling and waste upcycling, cleantech, renewable energy, water and wastewater management, environmental technologies and resource-efficient solutions. The initiative is designed to help emerging enterprises strengthen their business models, expand market access and develop commercially viable solutions that generate measurable environmental and social impact.

A total of 16 startups from across India will be selected for the programme. Participants will undergo a structured incubation process that includes business diagnostics, mentoring, bootcamps, expert guidance and networking opportunities. The programme also provides startups with access to ecosystem stakeholders who can support their growth and market expansion.

Of the overall ₹2 crore support, ₹1.36 crore forms the startup grant corpus. Funding will be linked to performance, with top-performing ventures receiving grant support to accelerate their operations and scale their solutions. The model combines financial assistance with capacity building, allowing startups to address both capital and execution challenges.

The initiative seeks to address sustainability challenges by encouraging innovations focused on resource efficiency, waste reduction, climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods. It also aims to help participating startups improve operational readiness, increase revenues, expand their markets and create employment opportunities.

For IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, the partnership expands its role in supporting impact-focused entrepreneurship. IIMCIP is a not-for-profit innovation and incubation organisation established under the aegis of IIM Calcutta and works with startups, corporates, government institutions and academic organisations to strengthen India’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The programme also builds on IDFC FIRST Bank’s broader focus on social and environmental impact through its FIRST IMPACT initiatives. By combining the bank’s financial support with IIMCIP’s incubation expertise, the partnership seeks to create a stronger pathway for sustainability education-focused ventures to move from early-stage development to commercial scale.

With 16 startups set to receive structured incubation and grant support, the initiative is expected to strengthen India’s sustainable startup ecosystem while encouraging technology-driven solutions for environmental and resource-related challenges.
