- IIT Patna and IIM Bodh Gaya have signed a MoU to jointly offer a five-year dual degree programme combining engineering or science with management, promoting interdisciplinary education and industry-ready skills.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bodh Gaya have entered into an MoU agreement to provide five-year integrated dual-degree course which is a combination of technical education and management education. This program is developed to help students develop multidisciplinary skills and leadership qualities that are required by the industry.
Through the program, the JEE candidates will study for the first three years at the IIT Patna campus while earning either BTech or BSc degrees. After the successful completion of the undergraduate phase of their studies, they will move to IIM Bodh Gaya campus to study for the remaining two years while earning their MBA degree. The completion of the program will ensure that the students are awarded both the degrees, and thus, they would have knowledge of engineering, science, and business management.
The program will run as a full-time residential program with 60 participants being admitted each year. The integrated curriculum has been well thought out such that the teaching will combine engineering and science with management and entrepreneurship. The partnership seeks to produce graduates who are not only technically skilled but also good decision-makers and leaders in business.
The officials from both these organizations have said that the collaboration is indicative of the increasing importance of inter-disciplinary education required to prepare students for fast-moving industries worldwide. With the combination of technical and managerial education in mind, the program aims at producing graduates who can work in innovation-led organizations, technology firms, and other business enterprises. This collaboration is also in tune with the goals set out by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
This collaboration would be based on the established relationship in academics between the two renowned institutions of IIT Patna and IIM Bodh Gaya. Teachers from both institutes would take part in developing and delivering curriculum in order to provide their students with well-rounded knowledge in theory and practice of doing business.
According to educational authorities, integration of programs that blend both technology and management has been increasingly important as companies search for individuals who are able to marry technical knowledge with business skills. The program graduates are likely to enjoy increased career opportunities in fields such as technology, consultancy, manufacturing, finance, entrepreneurship, and research.
Through the introduction of this dual degree program for five years, IIT Patna and IIM Bodh Gaya have reaffirmed their focus on educational innovations and interdisciplinary.
