  • Admissions open for 2026–27 integrated B.Des and M.Des programme with 30 seats and merit-based selection process

Avani Institute of Design has opened admissions for its integrated Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programme for the 2026–27 academic session.

The programme is structured to enable students to move directly from undergraduate to postgraduate studies without undergoing a separate admission process. The institute said the course is designed to build design capabilities aligned with contemporary social and environmental challenges.

A total of 30 seats have been announced, divided equally between merit and management or NRI categories. Admissions will be conducted based on merit, aptitude and interest in design, in accordance with statutory norms. The institute has stated that no capitation fee will be charged.

Candidates applying for the programme must have completed Class 12 education in any stream with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks. Applicants are also required to have a valid score in recognised design entrance examinations such as NATA, Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED), National Institute of Design (NID) entrance exam, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance exam or Kerala State Design Aptitude Test (KS-DAT). The minimum age requirement is 17 years at the time of application.

Tony Joseph, Chairman and Principal, Avani Institute of Design, said, “At Avani, we see design as a tool to address real-world challenges. The integrated programme is intended to develop designers who can respond to social and environmental needs.”

Students enrolled in the programme will have the option to specialise in product design or interior design. The curriculum includes interdisciplinary learning areas such as ecology, community engagement, lifestyle studies, interior spaces, furniture and business.

The programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated with the University of Calicut.

Applications for the 2026–27 academic session are expected to open ahead of the academic year.
