- Speakers at Amity’s international Model United Nations conference underline the role of young leaders in peacebuilding, innovation and nation-building
Amity University Noida campus organised Amity International Model United Nations 2026 (AMIMUN 2026) on the theme ‘Virtus Per Disciplinam’, meaning ‘Excellence Through Discipline’, from 16 to 18 January 2026. Amity International Model United Nations (AMIMUN) is an international platform that focuses on the overall personality development of students and the enhancement of their leadership skills. The 15th iteration of the Amity International Model United Nations Conference will host more than 1,500 participants from over 30 countries across the world.
Addressing students during the inaugural session, Neeraj Tandon, Director and Dean, United Nations University for Global Peace, United States, said, “Youth are the torchbearers of India’s future and will play a vital role in Viksit Bharat @2047. Ensuring peace and harmony in the world is crucial in today’s scenario, when nations are waging wars against each other. The youth must come forward and transform the world through their innovative ideas and become global peace ambassadors. Such events encourage students to work for world peace and make the world a better place to live in, which is the need of the hour.”
Vizesh Rana, Second-in-Command, 24th Battalion, Border Security Force, Government of India, said, “In the changing global geopolitical context, technology is being used in warfare, like all other areas. During Operation Sindoor, missiles and drones were used effectively, and new technologies were deployed efficiently. The United Nations was established in 1945 after the Second World War with the aim of maintaining global peace and security, protecting human rights and fostering cooperation among nations. In an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment, the role of youth is extremely important in dealing with new challenges, resolving conflicts and providing humanitarian assistance to other countries.”
Motivating the students, Yatin Bhaskar Duggal, National Head, Viksit Bharat Leadership Council, said, “The youth need to transform India through selfless contribution. They must love their country and feel proud of being Indian. They should aim to become job creators instead of job seekers and contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.” He called upon students to believe in themselves, work for the nation and never be afraid to ask questions.
During the inaugural session, AMIMUN 2026 was conferred with the ‘Bharat Excellence Award’ by the Bharat Book of World Records, and a pre-conference newsletter was also released on the occasion.
