- This merit-based scholarship offers a substantial financial incentive, covering 50 per cent of tuition fees per session for up to three years of full-time study.
The Western Sydney University is inviting applications for its Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Undergraduate Scholarships, aimed at high-achieving international students commencing undergraduate coursework programmes in 2025. This merit-based scholarship offers a substantial financial incentive, covering 50 per cent of tuition fees per session for up to three years of full-time study or strictly up to 240 credit points only.
The scholarship is available to new international students applying for any CRICOS-registered undergraduate degree, with the exception of the Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Nursing, and Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Importantly, students entering through the International College or the College pathways are not eligible.
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be international students (not citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand)
- Commence a new undergraduate programme in 2025
- Have received an offer of admission from Western Sydney University
- Achieve a minimum ATAR of 90 or equivalent in their higher secondary education
- Meet all other admission requirements and accept their offer by the deadline
No separate scholarship application is required. All eligible applicants are automatically considered upon submission of their coursework application. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to submit a statement explaining how the scholarship would support their academic and career goals. A panel of University officers will conduct the shortlisting process twice annually. Final selections will be made by a university panel, and successful applicants will be notified via email.
It’s important to note that the scholarship is a tuition fee waiver only. It does not cover living expenses, accommodation, transport, overseas student health cover, or other study-related costs, as mentioned on the official website. Additionally, the scholarship will be discontinued if the recipient’s visa status changes to that of an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident during the study period.
The recipient must maintain a full-time study load that is 40 credit points in each semester. Any changes in enrolment, like course changes, study load, withdrawal, resignation or leave of absence, require prior approval of the University and the Western Sydney International Scholarship Team is required.
