  • NLSIU Bengaluru schedules NLSAT 2027 for April 25, 2027, for admission to its BA (Hons.), three-year LLB (Hons.), Master’s in Public Policy and PhD programmes for the 2027–28 academic years.

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, announces its admission schedule for the 2027–28 academic years, with the National Law School Admission Test (NLSAT 2027) scheduled for April 25, 2027. The entrance examination serves as the basis for admission to selected undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes at the university.

According to the admission notification, the academic year begins on July 1, 2027. Application forms for the respective programmes are expected to become available on the university’s official website in November 2026.

NLSIU conducts NLSAT for admission to its three-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons.) programme, Bachelor of Arts (BA) (Hons.) programme, Master’s Programme in Public Policy (MPP), and PhD programmes in Law and Social Sciences, Humanities and Public Policy.

The three-year LLB (Hons.) programme is open to graduates from different academic disciplines and provides professional legal education. The BA (Hons.) programme offers a three-year undergraduate degree, with an option to extend to a fourth year through a research track.

The two-year MPP programme focuses on the relationship between law, public policy and social sciences. The doctoral programmes provide opportunities for advanced research in law and interdisciplinary subjects.

Admissions to the five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.) and one-year LLM programmes follow the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) route rather than NLSAT.

Eligibility requirements vary by programme. For the three-year LLB (Hons.) course, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. General-category candidates need at least 45% aggregate marks, while candidates from SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwD categories require at least 40%. Final-year undergraduate students may also apply, subject to completing their qualifying degree requirements.

The NLSAT-LLB examination comprises objective and subjective sections assessing reading comprehension, general awareness, critical reasoning, legal aptitude and analytical writing. Candidates are not expected to have prior knowledge of law.

Interested candidates should monitor the official NLSIU website for programme-specific notifications, application forms, eligibility requirements and fee details. The university conducts the entrance examination at designated centres across India. Applicants are advised to review the relevant admission notification carefully and submit their applications within the prescribed deadline.
