IICT, Netflix Offer Scholarships to 100 Creative Students

  • IICT and Netflix offer scholarships to 100 students and professionals, covering up to 80% of fees across six creative programmes. The initiative supports training in animation, VFX, gaming, comics and media technology while strengthening India’s AVGC-XR talent pipeline

The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and Netflix have announced scholarships for 100 students and working professionals across India, providing financial support of up to 80% of course fees across six professional programmes. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s creative talent pipeline and equip aspiring professionals with industry-relevant skills for the growing Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC-XR) sector.

The scholarships cover two one-year diploma programmes and four six-month certificate programmes. The courses span areas including interactive comics and sequential arts, visual effects, virtual art department content creation, media technology workflows, character animation, and esports and gaming management. The programmes are designed to provide students with practical capabilities aligned with evolving requirements across the creative and entertainment industries.

The initiative is supported by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity and is open to both students and working professionals. By reducing the financial barrier to specialised training, the programme seeks to broaden access to professional education and create opportunities for emerging talent from across the country.

Netflix is also contributing to curriculum development for selected programmes, particularly Visual Effects Mastery and Media Tech Workflow. The collaboration is intended to bring contemporary industry practices and workflows into the learning experience, giving participants greater exposure to the technologies and processes used in professional media production.

The partnership forms part of Netflix’s wider efforts to support India’s creative ecosystem. The company has been working with IICT and other industry stakeholders to promote skill development, mentorship and access to opportunities within the country’s expanding AVGC-XR industry. The collaboration also includes industry engagement through workshops, masterclasses and guest lectures.

The initiative comes as India’s creative economy increasingly intersects with advanced technologies such as virtual production, animation, visual effects, gaming and immersive media. Demand for specialised talent is growing as studios, streaming platforms and technology companies expand their production capabilities.

For IICT, the scholarship programme strengthens its role in developing industry-ready talent for India’s creative technology sector. For Netflix, it provides an avenue to contribute directly to skills development and help create a broader pool of trained professionals.

The scholarship initiative is therefore expected to support aspiring creators while strengthening the talent base required for India’s rapidly developing AVGC-XR ecosystem.
