IIM Sambalpur Rolls Out BSc in Public Policy, AI & Data Science

  • UG programmes in management and public policy and data science and AI aim to equip students for emerging national and global challenges

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur has inaugurated two new undergraduate programmes: BSc in Management and Public Policy, and BSc in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

The BSc in Management and Public Policy aims to address national priorities such as sustainability, ESG, and community led development by preparing students to bridge the gap between policy and grassroots practice. The BSc in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence focuses on enhancing digital capabilities and global competitiveness, with a curriculum co designed with industry leaders to promote ethical AI and develop future-ready skills.

Bramhanand Jha, PMP, Vice President, National eGovernance Division under MeitY, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, attended the event as chief guest. Piyush Shukla, Director (JEE), and Rajesh Kumar, Director (CUET), National Testing Agency (NTA), served as keynote speakers.

On the occasion Chief Guest Jha stated, “With the economy shifting towards a digital first economy, GCCs are leading the way in developing agile, technology enabled, and future proof organisations. Academic institutions like IIM Sambalpur, with vision oriented programmes in Data Science, AI, and Public Policy, are developing the talent and mindset to drive this change.

The programmes offer a foundation in data analysis, critical reasoning, and evidence based decision making. With a cross disciplinary approach, they aim to prepare students to navigate complex societal and industrial challenges through innovative and globally informed perspectives.
