Teachers are the future builder in a country, they prepare the students for the worst in the best possible manner . Hence, training and treatment of the teachers in the country needs to be taken care of on priority. Along with skilling and educating the students, there is a huge emphasis on training the teachers. And in this process to upskill the teachers, technology is playing a vital role.
Bharti Airtel Foundation which is a CSR wing of Airtel aims to transform the education industry by equipping teachers with the modern technology so that they will further transfer the knowledge efficiently.
Mamta Saikia, CEO of Bharti Airtel Foundation, shared her thoughts, and perspective on Bharti Airtel Foundation’s initiatives, TheTeacherApp and its alignment with NEP 2020 and said, ‘For the past 24 years, our foundation has been dedicated to education, running schools in villages for underprivileged children, completely free of charge. These schools have been instrumental in teaching us about the real challenges faced on the ground. We don’t just observe these challenges; we’ve lived them.”
She highlighted, “Over these years, we have come to recognise that education is not just about students—it’s about empowering teachers as key stakeholders in the learning process.”
TheTeacherApp provides comprehensive courses that are conversational in tone, making them easy to understand. Teachers appreciate these because they speak directly to their needs and are practical, to the point, and tailored to real-world challenges.
According to Saikia, the app has also provision of short videos that address specific classroom issues, such as how to encourage reading among children or how to foster interest in a particular subject.
Saikia said that in addition to knowledge and training, we provide teachers with a wide array of resources they can use in the classroom which includes teaching materials, activities, games, and project ideas, all designed to make learning more engaging and effective.
In the era of digital resources, even good teachers are struggling to make e-contents even if they have good teaching experience. Regarding this, she said, “Teachers play a crucial role in how educational content is created, and we recognise that not everyone can be a content creator. Crafting effective educational content is an art in itself—it’s not just about reporting information, but telling a story in a way that engages and teaches.”
She added that that’s why they make sure teachers are involved from the very beginning of our content creation process.
The starting of TheTeacherApp signifies the coherent linkage of technology with education, it is not only stabilising the education but helping the teachers strengthen the whole education ecosystem.
