India’s Academic Renaissance: Rising Stars In Global Rankings

The latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2024 stand as a testament to India’s remarkable progress and growing influence in academia with a staggering 19.4 per cent increase in the number of Indian universities securing positions, India now boasts 69 institutions featured prominently in the QS rankings. This surge in representation, captures India to the forefront of academic excellence in the Asian region, securing the second position.

Among the top-performing institutions are renowned names like Delhi University (DU), Indian Institutes of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP), which have consistently demonstrated excellence across various disciplines.

Furthermore, the inclusion of Panjab University in the QS rankings across four disciplines is a University’s debut in the Hospitality and Leisure Management category, securing a ranking within the 101-150 bracket.

Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad has secured a position among the top 25 institutions worldwide for business and management studies, this shows India’s growing influence in the realm of business education and management practices.

Across various fields including Computer Science, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Business Studies and Physics, Indian universities continue to showcase excellence.

The 2024 QS World University Rankings by subject cover a wide spectrum of academic disciplines across 95 countries, showcasing India’s progress and growing influence in the global academic ground.
