Training Workshop For IFS Officers By Amity University

  • Amity University organised a three-day Training Workshop on ‘Production and Consumption Pattern of Timber in India and Future Scope’ from 10th of January to 12th of January 2024

Amity School of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, University, Uttar Pradesh organized a workshop for Senior IndianForestService (IFS) Officers. The workshop was attended by 14 participants from various cadres including Haryana, Karnataka, Odisha, Gujarat and others.

“The workshop addresses issues in the forest sector, including sustainability integration, green cover increase, certification and law issues. Innovative thinking and new strategies are needed for skill development and tapping into the rural market for economic potential”, Subhash Chandra, Additional Director General & CEO, CAMPA Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, averred.

“The production and consumption of timber should be proportionate and new technologies should be implemented for optimal production and consumption. A multidisciplinary approach and public-private sector partnership are necessary to achieve Sustainable Development Goals”, Dr W Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, stated.

“The forest sector, which contributes 1.7 per cent to the country’s GDP, requires enhancement. Organisations and government policies aim to establish checks and balances in the sector with an increase in green cover aiming to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and protect the environment”, Dr D K Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School, said.

“The training workshop aims to provide an opportunity to the forestofficers to interact and exchange ideas for providing solutions to the challenges of the forest sector in India”, Dr S P Singh, Director, Amity School of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, said.

During the three-day workshop, technical Sessions on topics such as ‘Demand and Supply of Timber and Its Impact on Consumption Pattern in India’, ‘Overview of World’s Forest Resources and Trend of Production and Consumption of Timber’, ‘Future Scope for Improvement and Consumption Pattern of Timber in India: Strategies and Challenges’ and ‘Agroforestry: A Tool for Meeting the Requirements of Wood’ and others will be conducted.
