Scaler School of Technology Inaugurates Computer Science Programme

  • 54,000 people registered for the first class of the computer science programme at Scaler School of Technology, with over 30 per cent opting for it, nearly 70 per cent hailing from tier 2, tier 3 and smaller cities

Scaler has announced its inaugural residential 4 year UG programme in Computer Science at the Scaler School of Technology (SST) has attracted over 54,000 registrations for 191 available seats. The programme has a highly selective acceptance rate of 3.8 per cent, with over 30 per cent of students choosing SST receiving offers.

SST’s admissions data contradicts the traditional narrative that new-age education programmes primarily cater to metropolitan and tier 1 markets. Nearly 70 per cent of students come from tier 2, tier 3 and smaller cities and 52 per cent have a family income below INR 6 Lakhs per annum. The institute is also providing scholarships to over 25 students from economically weaker sections, ensuring quality tech education remains accessible.

“SST bridges the gap between industry requirements and traditional engineering colleges by incorporating industry professionals and co-creating course curriculums with tech industry leaders. This unique approach ensures relevant and updated material, setting SST apart from traditional colleges. Students preference for SST over top tech institutions reflects their endorsement of SST’s distinctive pedagogical approach and their desire to acquire industry-relevant skills”, Bhavik Rathod, Senior Vice President, Head, Scaler School of Technology, said.

SST’s student population is diverse, with 62.09 per cent from CBSE, 32 per cent from State Boards, 4per cent from ICSE and 2 per cent from CISCE. Over 75 per cent of students independently choose SST due to its industry-aligned approach, while 25 per cent discovered the institution through referrals. The calibre of students can be gauged by their achievements, such as selling their start-up to a UK-based edtech company and becoming a national-level rifle shooter.

For the first batch, SST has hosted various events including an open source hackathon, a coding competition, cultural celebrations and community engagement activities.
