BITS Goa and Goa Uni Collaborate for Academic and Research Partnership

  • MoU facilitates research, academic exchange and opportunities for Goa University students to explore PhD programs at BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goa University (GU) to establish a partnership in academics and research. The collaboration will encompass various activities such as joint research projects, publications, workshops, seminars and conferences.

Under this MoU, students from Goa University and its affiliated colleges will have the opportunity to pursue PhD programs and project work at BITS Pilani. The partnership aims to foster the exchange of academic and scholarly knowledge among faculty and students of both institutions.

Faculty members from both BITS Pilani and Goa University will collaborate on student supervision and research initiatives in areas of shared interest. As part of the agreement, GU students will have the option to undertake research projects at BITS Pilani, with the possibility of admission to BITS Pilani’s PhD program. During their research projects, students may fulfil credit requirements for courses registered at GU. The collaboration also seeks to explore a Sandwich Model for Doctoral programs, allowing students to visit the partner institution for a duration of six to twelve months to conduct research.

Prof. Suman Kundu, Director of BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating that it would provide students with exposure to diverse faculty support and research subjects, raising the bar for research and citation capabilities in higher education.

Prof. Harilal B Menon, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in offering technology-driven courses and expanding educational opportunities. He stressed that the partnership aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) curriculum and enhances research centres at GU.

The MoU was signed on 10 October 2023, by Prof Harilal B Menon, Vice Chancellor, Goa University and Prof Suman Kundu, Director, BITS Pilani Goa Campus. This collaboration extends to all 64 affiliated colleges under Goa University’s purview. BITS Pilani, Goa Campus is actively seeking similar collaborations with esteemed institutions in India and abroad, with the goal of advancing research and education.
