Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) and the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TTWREIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institut Français en Inde (IFI – The French Institute in India) to ensure that the students in Telangana government schools run by the TSWREI and TTWREI Societies have such wonderful global experiences.

The MoU to introduce French language in Telangana government schools run by the TSWREIS and TTWREIS was signed in the presence of E. Naveen Nicolas, Secretary, Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Emmanuel Lebruns-Damiens, Director of the French Institute in India and Thierry Berthelot, Consul General of France in Bangalore.

During his remarks, E. Naveen Nicolas, IAS, Secretary TSWREIS & TTWREIS expressed his admiration for the deep interest that the French Institute in India expressed towards the partnership, which is one of its kind in Telangana.

He noted that Education is a pathbreaking means to achieve the goal of Social Justice. The Government of Telangana through the work being done at TSWREIS & TTWREIS has been passionately strengthening this means for the children from historically marginalised communities. The partnership will not only pave a pathway to success in a deeply connected world, but will also focus on building in-house teacher capacity to teach French in the long run.

French will be introduced in around 20 TSWREIS/TTWREIS-affiliated schools. Depending on student interest, it will be expanded to other schools. It will be taught in grades V to XII. Under this collaboration, the French Institute (IFI) will train TSWREIS and TTWREIS teachers in communicative French. It will also give students access to its cultural and academic platforms. IFI will organise workshops and seminars to inform students about university studies in France and scholarship opportunities.
