The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has introduced an online master’s degree programme specialising in Energy Policy and Regulation (EPR). The admission portal is currently open, with classes slated to commence in January 2024.

This programme has been introduced with the primary objective of addressing the skill development needs in the dynamic energy sector and promoting innovation. It welcomes both working professionals and students who possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in pertinent fields such as engineering, economics, law, commerce, management and finance and who aspire to enrich their understanding of emerging energy sector domains.

This course is particularly beneficial for individuals employed in regulatory commissions, electricity generation, transmission, distribution, energy trading, consumer services, renewable energy, market operations, adjudication or consulting. It equips them with the requisite skills and industry-specific knowledge, empowering them to excel in their respective roles.

The two-year online curriculum has been thoughtfully crafted to offer a flexible, executive-friendly structure that allows enrolled candidates to seamlessly juggle their work commitments alongside their studies at IIT Gandhinagar.

The course encompasses live interactive sessions during evenings and weekends, complemented by self-paced learning modules to facilitate strategic learning and discussions. Remarkably, the e-Master’s programme does not mandate the GATE qualification for admission. Upon successful completion of the online degree programme, participants will receive the coveted IITGN Alumni status, along with mentorship and placement support provided by the institute.

Additionally, during the course of the programme, participants will have the unique opportunity to engage with experts and make visits to the epicentres of energy transitions. These immersive experiences, spanning 30 days over two years, will take place on the IIT Gandhinagar campus, as stated by the institute.
