Bharti Foundation, Directorate Of School Education, Jammu Support 8,500+ Teachers & 2 Lakh Students Through Skill Development

Bharti Foundation in collaboration with Directorate Of School Education, Jammu has launched Life Skills Development Project that has trained over 390 resource persons as master trainers who cascaded the training to more than 8,500 teachers from 1,100+ Government Schools in Jammu

In the recent engagement, school complex heads were given an orientation on project facilitation in Government Schools through master trainers. In addition, master trainers were felicitated on Saturday, 11th February 2023, for successfully completing teacher training in their jurisdiction. Furthermore, teachers and best-performing districts were also felicitated on the successful initiation of the project in Government Schools, benefitting more than 2 lakh students while ensuring their holistic development.

During the felicitation ceremony, Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma, (JKAS) Director, School Education, Jammu said, “This initiative is energising existing House Systems in schools through a systemic approach. Through this initiative, we hope to improve the potential of our students by creating healthy competition while enabling them to become good citizens.”

Speaking on the successful initiation of the project, Mamta Saikia, CEO-Bharti Foundation said, “National Education Policy 2020 also lays emphasis on building important life skills in students such as critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, digital skills, etc. It is a matter of pride that this initiative has been successful in government schools in Jammu.”

The project, ‘Life Skills Development among students through House System,’ provides opportunities for children in high and higher secondary schools in Jammu to build important life skills in 10 critical areas such as problem-solving, stress management, interpersonal relationship skill, coping with emotions, empathy, critical thinking, decision making, creative thinking, effective communication and self-awareness. This project will help children equip with required 21st century skills for them to become confident and caring individuals, ready to manage everyday challenges and excel in their future workplace while balancing their personal and professional relationships.
