IILM University Gurugram Successfully Hosts 3rd National Moot Court Competition

  • IILM University Gurugram concludes its highly successful 3rd National Moot Court Competition, focusing on contemporary legal issues

IILM University Gurugram held its 3rd National Moot Court Competition. The event attracted young law students and experts from across India, engaging in discussions and courtroom simulations on contemporary legal topics such as deepfake and machine learning, constitutional law and IPR laws.

The 3rd National Moot Court Competition awarded cash prizes over INR 100,000 for outstanding achievements in advocacy, research and memorial drafting. Shaarika Singh from IIM Rohtak won the Best Speaker award, while Ashish Kumar Patel from DNLU Jabalpur won the Best Researcher award. NALSAR, Hyderabad won the Best Memorial award. The winners received INR 10,000, a trophy, a certificate and a medal. Other winners included Vrish Vardhan Singh, Shivangini Choppalli and Azhan Saleem from National Law University, Delhi and NALSAR Hyderabad students, who won INR 25,000.

Honourable Justice Navin Sinha, a former Supreme Court Judge and Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and Rajasthan High Court delivered the inaugural address at the 3rd National Moot Court Competition, showcasing his extensive experience and expertise, setting an inspiring tone for the upcoming proceedings.

The event’s key highlights included thought-provoking dialogues, an exchange of memorials and researcher tests, followed by preliminary and quarter rounds. The competition witnessed the participation of talented students from notable institutions such as the NALSAR Hyderabad, National Law University, Delhi, NMIMS Kirit P Mehta School of Law, Mumbai, Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad, Hyderabad, OP Jindal Global University, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Punjab, Patiala, IIM Rohtak, among others.

“The 3rd National Moot Court Competition aims to promote legal excellence and nurture the next generation of legal experts. Together, we are committed to upholding the principles of justice, integrity and equality to make our nation the Vishwa guru of the world”, Dr Sujata Shahi, said.

The concluding day was graced with the presence of Dr Narinder Singh, Secretary-General of the Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi and Dr Shikhar Ranjan, Director of The Asian–African Legal Consultative Organisation, New Delhi, Dr Pavan Duggal, renowned CyberLaw expert, emphasised on the importance of responsible AI development and deployment, advocating for robust legal frameworks to address emerging challenges.
