  • IGNOU invites applications for nine one-year master’s programmes for FYUP graduates under the NEP 2020 framework. Eligible candidates can apply by August 16, 2026, with an APAAR ID required for registration.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is now accepting applications for nine one-year master’s degree courses for FYUP graduates. It is an initiative that aims at providing a fast-track post-graduation process in sync with NEP 2020 and allows eligible candidates to pursue their post-graduate studies in a flexible learning environment. The deadline for applying for admission in July 2026 is August 16, 2026.

These are the various programs offered through the one year postgraduate route: MA Economics, MA Sociology, MA History, MCom, MA Hindi, MA Journalism and Mass Communication, MA English, MA Sanskrit and MA Urdu. These courses aim to offer multi-disciplinary learner centered pathways to those having completed the required four-year degree program.

The launch of these programmes demonstrates the efforts made by IGNOU in keeping their educational programmes in line with NEP 2020, which encourages flexibility in the higher education system. This one-year master’s programme is particularly suitable for FYUP graduates who want to pursue further studies.

Prospective applicants are recommended to have their APAAR ID at hand prior to starting the admission process. Suitable candidates may apply for admission via the online admission portal of IGNOU. IGNOU’s official admission portal reveals that the last date for submitting applications for July 2026 is August 16.

IGNOU is further attending to the inquiries made by potential students who have applied for admissions in the July 2026 intake but whose admission applications have not been confirmed till now. According to the university, the applications are under review at present and the students can check their admission status on the Online Admission Portal.

In case of any discrepancy in the application process, the student who has applied is informed about it through the admission portal. A link for the same will be provided in the application account, where the student can provide the necessary information/documents and settle the matter. In case there is no discrepancy found, the admission is confirmed and an enrollment number is assigned to the student. An admission confirmation mail is also sent on the registered email ID of the student.

The government scholarship applications are also made available to eligible students through the National Scholarship Portal upon confirmation of their admission. It is recommended that the candidates make use of the admission portal for updates and not send emails repeatedly while the process is being scrutinized.

The provision of the nine one-year master’s programs provides additional postgraduate avenues to the FYUP students while promoting the IGNOU’s commitment to flexible higher education.
