Bihar Introduces Free JEE, NEET Classes at Model Schools

  • Bihar launches free JEE and NEET coaching in 10 government model schools under the Bihar School Live Classes initiative, aiming to provide quality digital learning and competitive exam preparation for students, with plans to expand the programme to all 155 model schools across the state.

The Bihar government has launched free coaching for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirants in 10 government model schools as part of its newly introduced Bihar School Live Classes (BSLC) initiative. The programme is designed to improve access to quality education and competitive exam preparation for students studying in government schools, with plans to extend the initiative to all 155 model schools across the state.

The initiative was inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Shastri Nagar, Patna. Alongside the launch of the free coaching programme, the government introduced Bihar School Live Classes, a technology-enabled learning platform that connects students with experienced teachers through smart classrooms and digital infrastructure. The programme seeks to bridge educational gaps by ensuring students across different districts have access to expert instruction regardless of their location.

In the first phase, the free coaching programme has been introduced in 10 selected model schools, where students preparing for engineering and medical entrance examinations will receive specialised academic support. The government intends to gradually expand the facility to all 155 model schools, enabling a larger number of students from economically weaker and rural backgrounds to prepare for national-level competitive examinations without incurring private coaching expenses.

The Bihar School Live Classes initiative leverages digital technology to deliver live interactive lessons from expert faculty to multiple schools simultaneously. Smart classrooms equipped with video conferencing facilities and digital learning tools will allow students to participate in real-time classes while interacting directly with instructors. Officials believe the programme will help improve learning outcomes, standardise the quality of education, and strengthen academic performance in government schools.

As part of the launch, the Bihar government also signed memorandums of understanding with partner organisations to promote artificial intelligence (AI), science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, and digital learning resources in schools. These collaborations are expected to support curriculum enhancement, teacher training, and the integration of emerging technologies into classroom learning.

The initiative reflects the state’s broader efforts to modernise public education through technology-driven learning and improve access to quality coaching for competitive examinations. By combining live digital classes with free JEE and NEET preparation, Bihar aims to reduce educational disparities and equip government school students with the academic support needed to pursue higher education in engineering and medical institutions.
