MHT CET CAP 2026 Registration Begins for BTech, MBA Admissions

  • The Maharashtra CET Cell has started MHT CET CAP 2026 registration for BTech and MBA admissions. Eligible candidates can apply online until July 12 through the official counselling portal.

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has started the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) 2026 registration, for admissions into BTech and MBA programmes that are provided by participating institutions all over the state. Eligible candidates now can do the online registration on the official CET Cell portal up to July 12, 2026, which is basically when the states centralized counselling exercise for professional courses begins.

The CAP process is open to candidates who have qualified in the MHT CET 2026 examination, so basically if you’ve cleared it you’re good. Applicants who wish to take admission using national-level entrance examinations like JEE Main for engineering or CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, GMAT, and NTA CUET for MBA Admissions can also participate. This is of course subject to the admission rules that are prescribed.

Prospective candidates need to register online, upload the needed documents, do the required document verification, and then submit their chosen college and programmes. The counselling journey looks like registration, checking or scrutiny of the documents, release of merit lists, choice filling, seat allotment, and finally confirming admission at the institute they are allotted. The CET Cell also mentioned that applicants should finish each step within the fixed time limits, because otherwise they may end up being disqualified.

According to the official schedule, the document verification and application confirmation phase, will take place between July 3 to July 13, and then the provisional merit list is followed by grievance redressal window from July 16 to July 18. The final merit list should be released on July 20, 2026 after which the CAP seat allotment rounds begin, so yeah, that’s the overall flow.

So the counselling registration fee i s Rs 1,300 for General category candidates, for people applying from outside Maharashtra, and for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. For reserved category candidates from Maharashtra, as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD), the required amount becomes Rs 1,000. But if you have already registered for the MHT CET 2026 examination, then you are exempt from paying the CAP registration fee, kind of automatically. Meanwhile, applicants who are aiming for admission via other qualifying examinations have to pay the counselling fee that applies to them.

The CAP system is made so it basically ensures clear, fair, and merit led admissions across engineering and management institutions in Maharashtra. By using a centralized seat allocation method, candidates end up getting admissions according to their entrance exam scores, merit ranking, reservation category, and programme choices, so the whole thing stays more or less streamlined across the colleges that actually take part.

Students are encouraged to keep all required documents ready, regularly check the official notifications, and finish the registration well before the last date. With thousands of seats available across engineering and management institutions, the MHT CET CAP 2026 counselling process gives aspiring students a kind of organized path way to secure admission into undergraduate and postgraduate professional programmes in Maharashtra.
