Canva Education and NCERT Join Forces to Empower Teachers Nationwide with New Certification Program

Canva, the world’s leading all-in-one platform for visual communication and collaboration, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to launch three free, self-paced teacher training and certification programs. Designed to equip Indian educators with essential digital skills to drive creativity, critical thinking, and digital fluency in classrooms, the initiative is poised to benefit teachers across the country.

As a part of this partnership, while Canva will offer free access to its education platform and help develop compelling learning materials, NCERT will lead efforts to align materials with the national curriculum, ensure widespread access, and tailor content for regional relevance. Canva will also continue to enhance its tools to make learning more visual, relatable, and engaging for Indian educators. The course will be hosted on DIKSHA, the Ministry of Education’s national platform for school education, and be available in multiple languages for teachers across the nation to access.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the training is designed to foster visual learning, design thinking, and the development of 21st-century skills. Educators will also explore how to use AI tools to create collaborative, engaging, and joyful learning environments that spark creativity, curiosity, and deeper student engagement in the classroom. This initiative also reflects Canva’s commitment to educational equity and ensuring universal access to digital learning tools, particularly within India’s public education system, which serves over 69% of the country’s school students.

Jason Wilmot, Head of Education at Canva, said, “We believe every teacher deserves access to tools that make learning more engaging, inclusive, and creative. This partnership with NCERT is a powerful step toward equipping educators with practical digital skills that not only save time but spark imagination in every classroom. As creativity and visual communication become essential for student success, we’re proud to support India’s teachers in building future-ready learning environments.”

“This partnership brings a shared vision to life, one that empowers every teacher in India with access to easy-to-use, powerful digital design tools,” said Chandrika Deb, Country Manager – India at Canva. “By delivering this program free of cost, in multiple languages, and through a trusted national platform like NCERT, we are not only advancing digital fluency and creative confidence in classrooms across the country, but also deepening Canva’s long-term commitment to India, which plays a pivotal role in our vision to democratize design and creativity at scale.”
