The University of San Diego and Telangana Higher Education Council discuss potential Tie-Up for Education and Tech-Driven Governance

A high-level delegation from the University of San Diego (USD) met with Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman and Prof Sriram Venkatesh, Secretary, of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), to explore potential collaborations in faculty development, student mobility, and technology-driven governance. The meeting marks a significant step towards building academic partnership between Telangana and global institutions. The discussion focused on the following areas:

  • Masters Programs such as MS Applied Artificial Intelligence, MS Applied Data Scientist, MS Cyber Security Engineering and MS Cyber Security Operations & Leadership
  • Upskilling of Faculty – The US delegation proposed a long-term partnership for faculty training and academic leadership development.
  • Joint Research Projects and IPRs
  • Joint Research publications
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Students Internships/Projects/Hackathons

Enhancing Access to Global Higher Education: The meeting also focused on creating structured opportunities for meritorious students from Telangana to gain access to world-class universities. The delegation explored the idea of mapping scholarship recipients and their international destinations to identify new channels through which deserving students could benefit from broader, better-aligned global education pathways.

This move is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and bring in innovative practices to benefit governance across the state. Speaking about the meeting, Prof. V. Balakista Reddy Chairman, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) emphasized on the importance of forging meaningful global academic partnerships. “Telangana as a state is committed towards achieving global standards of education. We are happy to collaborate with the University of San Diego to continue on that path. Faculty empowerment, student mobility, and administrative upskilling are essential pillars of our higher education vision.”

Dr. Chell Roberts, Dean of the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, University of San Diego, echoed this sentiment and stated that, “In the US, we believe in creating global bridges through education. Telangana’s commitment to innovation in public education and capacity building aligns with our vision of inclusive, future-ready learning. We look forward to co-developing impactful programs that benefit both faculty and students.”

The meeting signifies a milestone in Telangana’s efforts to globalize its education ecosystem, aligning with the state’s broader vision for internationalization, skill development, and innovation in public service.
