- TT&NFE, IASE, JMI, conducted a 40 hour, ten day online faculty development programme on empowering educators with AI in teaching and research
The Department of Teacher Training and Non Formal Education (TT&NFE) at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), conducted a 40 hour, ten day online faculty development programme on the theme ‘Empowering Educators with AI in Teaching and Research’ from 6 to 16 May 2025.
The initiative was held in collaboration with the Electronics and ICT Academy (Hub) at NIT Warangal and the E&ICT Academy (Spoke) at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
The inaugural session of the faculty development programme began on 6 May 2025, marking the start of a comprehensive ten day online training focused on the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching and research. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), was the chief guest for the session.
The session was attended by senior representatives from the partnering institutions, including Jessy Abraham, JMI, P Sreehari Rao, NIT Warangal, K Krishna Naik and M Naresh Babu from IIITDM Kurnool, and Sara Begum, JMI. The programme was jointly coordinated by Noel Nittala Anurag Prashanth, IIITDM Kurnool and Aerum Khan, JMI.
The faculty development programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
The faculty development programme received 92 registrations from across the country, exceeding the initial provision for 50 participants. Following increased interest, the Ministry approved an additional 42 seats. In total, 55 faculty members and 37 research scholars enrolled, with all participants completing the course.
The programme included 40 one hour online technical sessions, followed by an online test. Resource persons were drawn from institutions such as EFLU Hyderabad, IIITDM Kurnool, NIT Warangal, NIEPA New Delhi, JNU Delhi, CSIR Patna, Central University of Karnataka, AUD, IGNOU, GGSIPU, JMI, and the industry. Sessions covered theoretical foundations and practical applications of artificial intelligence and ICT tools in education. Certificates will be issued online to all participants.
