IIM Nagpur Inaugurates ‘MARGADARSHAN’ – A Student Mentorship Initiative for the MBA Batch of 2025-27

The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur inaugurated Margadarshan, its flagship student mentorship initiative, for the MBA batch of 2025-2027. Designed to connect students with senior industry leaders, the programme aims to help students seamlessly transition from campus to the corporate world. This year, 72 distinguished mentors from diverse sectors have come on board.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Rajeev Dubey, Former Chairman of Mahindra First Choice Wheels, Mahindra Insurance Brokers, and Mahindra Steel Service Centre, and Member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Geneva, along with Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur.

Dr. Metri called Margadarshan “a catalyst for shaping ethical, innovative, and resilient leaders.” He noted, “In today’s dynamic business environment, technical competence alone is not enough. Leaders must also possess emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a deep sense of societal responsibility. Margadarshan provides a bridge between academic learning and industry expectations, ensuring our students are ready to lead from the front.”

Mr. Rajeev Dubey delivered the keynote address, urging students to view leadership as a service rather than a position of authority. “Leadership is not about power; it is about purpose. It is the courage to stand for what is right, the humility to listen, and the resilience to thrive amid uncertainty. Success will come when you align your personal goals with the greater good,” he said, adding that mentorship offers “real-world wisdom that no textbook can replicate.”

Prof. Prashant Gupta (Dean – Faculty & Academics) described Margadarshan as a structured platform for experiential learning, “It’s not merely an industry interaction it’s a sustained engagement where mentors and mentees co-create learning experiences,” he explained.

The event also featured interactive sessions where mentors shared career journeys, leadership lessons, and sectoral knowledge, offering students valuable perspectives on navigating corporate challenges.

Also present at the event were Prof. Alok Kumar Singh (Dean – Executive Education), Prof Prakash Awasthy (Chairperson MBA), Prof. Shailendra Nigam (Chairperson – CDS), and Prof. Devashis Rath, who applauded the initiative’s role in enhancing industry readiness.
