The Heritage Academy hosted its much-awaited student induction and orientation programme, ‘Convergence’, for the incoming batch of students from the BBA, BCA, B.Sc. in Cyber Security, and Media Science departments. The week-long programme, which concluded today, was thoughtfully designed to ease the transition of students into their academic journey while empowering them with knowledge, inspiration, and values.
In his welcome message, Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO of the Heritage Group of Institutions, highlighted the institution’s commitment to creating an ecosystem where academic excellence, industry integration, and holistic development go hand in hand. He urged the students to remain curious, be fearless in facing challenges, and embody the values that define The Heritage legacy.
Prof. Gour Banerjee, Principal of The Heritage Academy, emphasized that education at Heritage goes beyond textbooks—it is about discovering oneself and building a strong foundation for life. He encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunities provided and to begin this phase with clarity, courage, and compassion.
Prof. Madhupa Bakshi, Dean of the Media Science Department, reminded the new entrants of the responsibility that comes with education in today’s evolving world. She inspired students to remain grounded, creative, and purposeful in their aspirations, especially in the context of media’s powerful role in shaping narratives.
The inaugural session of Convergence on July 23rd set the tone for the programme, with insightful addresses by Mr. Rupak Barua, MD & CEO of Woodlands Hospital, Mr. Kayan Kar, Director and Co-founder of Prediqt Business Solutions, and Mr. Dhruba Mukherjee, CEO of ABP Group. Each speaker brought in unique perspectives on leadership, adaptability, and the ethics of success in a rapidly changing professional world.
Over the following days, students had the opportunity to listen to and interact with a host of eminent speakers from diverse fields. Swami Vedatitanaanda Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira delivered a powerful session on value-based education and inner strength. Mr. Sandeep Sengupta from Indian School of Ethical Hacking & a Cybersecurity professional addressed key issues around cybersecurity in today’s digital era. Mr. Arthur Cardozo, a fitness consultant, emphasized the connection between physical health and mental performance, while Mr. Santanu Mukherjee, Director of IndusNet Technologies, spoke on the importance of AI. RJ Praveen, with his dynamic energy, inspired students to find their voice, Prof. Joy Sen from IIT Kharagpur spoke about the right brain thinking and its role in career building and innovation and Mr. Arun Dave from Heartfulness shared practical methods for mindfulness and emotional well-being.
There were many more such expert-led sessions spread across the week, covering vital themes including career planning, digital citizenship, creative communication, wellness, and emotional intelligence—ensuring a comprehensive orientation experience.
The programme concluded on 26th July with a warm and enthusiastic interaction between the new batch and the institution’s alumni, who returned to their alma mater to share career insights, personal journeys, and invaluable life lessons. This final session stood as a powerful testimony to the enduring bond between The Heritage Academy and its graduates.
‘Convergence’ 2025 was not just an orientation—it was the first chapter in a journey that promises discovery, transformation, and the shaping of responsible, skilled, and empowered individuals ready to step into the world.
