NEWME’s Fashion-Tech Challenge Draws 5,000+ teams in India’s First Gen Z Innovation Sprint

India’s fast-rising fashion-tech brand NEWME brought together creativity, code, and campus energy at scale — with the launch of their first edition of NEWME Campus Challenge, India’s first dedicated fashion-tech hackathon for Gen Z. The nationwide event saw participation from over 5,000 teams, with entries from top colleges like NIFT, SRCC, NMIMS, Lady Shri Ram College, Gargi College, Christ University, Chandigarh University and St. Xavier’s. The first edition of the campus challenge was open to selected top 25 colleges of India.

The competition culminated in a high-stakes finale, where 7 teams made it to the final stage. Winners walked away with a prize pool of INR 10 lakhs, including INR 5 lakhs for the winner, INR 3 Lakhs for 1st runner up & 2 lakhs for 2nd runner up. Below are the winner details:

  • 1.  Winner: Rasna, Lady Shri Ram College for Women
  • 2.  1st Runner-Up: The Consulting Sharks, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies
  • 3.  2nd Runner-Up: Derivatives, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies

NEWME’s co-founder and CEO Sumit Jasoria said, “At NEWME, we’re building more than just a fashion brand — we’re creating a movement where technology and Gen Z creativity come together to redefine the future of Indian fashion. With the Campus Challenge, our goal was to give young Indian talent a real-world opportunity to solve the next big challenges in fashion using tech-driven solutions. The ideas we saw were bold, entrepreneurial, and incredibly future-forward — a true reflection of how NEWME, alongside this new generation, is revolutionizing the Indian fashion landscape. We see so much energy across campuses that this case study opens new doors for talent to join the fashion world.”

Held exclusively for undergraduates, the challenge encouraged students to reimagine how Gen Z shops — through digital experiences, AI-enabled personalization, sustainability, and product innovation. Along the way, finalists received mentoring, industry exposure, and a platform to pitch directly to the NEWME leadership.

Fashion in India is becoming digital-first — and NEWME is one of the few brands integrating design, data, and youth culture at scale. The event also created meaningful opportunities for participants to engage with industry experts, mentors, and peers from across the country — a talent pipeline and innovation sandbox rolled into one. The challenge not only sharpened creative and technical skills but also encouraged collaborative thinking and real-world problem-solving in a future-focused environment.
