Alliance University has introduced a two-year Master of Performing Arts programme designed to equip students with both artistic and managerial skills. Through a meticulously crafted pedagogy designed to enrich performing arts education in India, the programme covers philosophy, tradition, values, art, science, culture and religions of India-contributing to holistic development in all areas. Students also have the flexibility to choose elective options in classical dance, including Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi and Carnatic Vocal.
The curriculum is designed to train students to master the business aspects of art management & legal frameworks relevant to the industry. The students will also develop media and communication skills, enabling them to create promotional materials and excel in public speaking and digital media. Integrating a holistic approach to well-being, the program includes courses focused on promoting wellness and effective stress management techniques.
To qualify for the programme, applicants must hold an undergraduate degree or its equivalent, alongside a minimum of eight years of professional experience in dance or possess a recognised graduate degree with relevant examination certifications.
The course provides foundational training in lighting, makeup and stage production, empowering students to become self-reliant artists. Additionally, the university offers specialised research training, coaching for competitive exams and career guidance to prepare students for a wide range of roles in the performing arts industry, such as research fellow, art manager, entrepreneur, technician, designer, choreographer, composer, art critic, writer and performing arts manager.
In addition to the master’s programme, Alliance University also offers a one-year Diploma in Performing Arts since 2012, making it the first private institution in South India to provide this qualification.
The Master’s programme collaborates with renowned cultural festivals, including the Surya Festival, Nishagandhi Festival, Konark Festival and Khajuraho Festival of Dances, providing students with valuable exposure and networking opportunities.
60 seats are available for this programme and currently, 44 students are enrolled in the Diploma course.
