- The Indo-Russian Education Summit 2024 achieved breakthroughs in collaboration, including mutual recognition of degrees and a significant increase in scholarships for Indian students
The Indo-Russian Education Summit 2024, organised by Rus Education, in collaboration with Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Federal Agency for Humanitarian Cooperation at the Russian House, New Delhi and the Russian Embassy, achieved significant milestones, on April 11, 2024. The event was graced by HE Denis Alipov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, Denis Gribov, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Tatiana Semenova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
The event commenced with an inaugural speech by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, HE Denis Alipov. In his address, Ambassador Alipov highlighted the significance of the Indo-Russian Education Summit as the first of its kind dedicated to fostering collaboration and innovation in education. Alipov emphasised the mutual recognition of academic degrees between the two nations, signaling a landmark achievement in bilateral educational relations.
Ambassador Alipov further announced, “Currently, 22,000 Indian students are pursuing their higher education in Russia. This number can and must grow significantly in the coming future by the positive development due to the scholarship opportunities offered to Indian students by the Russian Government from 200 to 500 specifically.”
Furthermore, at the event B Srinivas, Secretary, the National Medical Commission, delivered a thought-provoking speech during the panel discussion, underscoring the importance of collaboration in higher education to foster comprehensive cooperation among the participating nations. With the enduring ties between India and Russia, Srinivas emphasised the pivotal role of academia in driving innovation, cultural exchange and sustainable development across borders.
In a significant announcement, Srinivas revealed that Ministers from the Russian Federation would be visiting the NMC the following day to discuss reciprocity in medical education between the two countries, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening educational ties.
