Delhi EWS Admission 2024-25: Registration for EWS begins on April 30, Important dates and eligibility Criteria

The Directorate of Education (DoE) in Delhi has released a notification for the admission of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category students for the academic year 2024-25 in private schools across the national capital. The registration process is set to begin on April 30, 2024, and will conclude on May 15, 2024. Interested parents can apply for their children through the official website of the DoE at edudel.nic.in.

EWS Admission Quota and Lottery System
Private schools in Delhi are required to reserve 25% of their seats for students from EWS, disadvantaged groups, and children with special needs (CWSN). The allocation of these EWS seats is determined through a computerized lottery system, with the draw scheduled for May 20, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for EWS Admission 2024-25

  • For admission to preschool or nursery classes under the EWS and DG categories, children should be between 3 and 5 years old. For children in the CWD or CWSN category, the age requirement is 3 to 7 years.
  • Children from the EWS and DG categories seeking admission to pre-primary or KG classes should be between 4 and 6 years old, while those in the CWS and CWSN categories should be between 4 and 8 years old.
  • For admission to primary or class 1, students under the EWS and DG categories should be between 5 and 7 years old, and for those in the CWS and CWSN categories, the age range is 5 to 9 years.
  • Applicants must also be permanent residents of Delhi, and to qualify for benefits under the EWS category, the family income should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.

Documents Required for Delhi EWS Admission Parents need to provide the following documents for admission under the EWS/DG categories: birth certificate, income certificate, domicile certificate, ration card, parents’ ID, and certificate of disability (if applying under CWSN).

How to Apply for Delhi EWS Admission 2024-25 To apply for admission, visit the official website of the Directorate of Education at edudel.nic.in and click on the “Delhi EWS Admission 2024-25” link. Fill out the application form with the required information, upload the necessary documents, pay the registration fee, and submit the form. Download the confirmation receipt for future reference.

Cancellation of Admission
The DoE notification warns that if documents submitted at the time of admission are found to be forged or fake, the admission will be cancelled, and criminal proceedings may be initiated against the parents or guardians. Multiple or duplicate entries may also lead to cancellation of candidature or admission.
