BITS Law School marked a significant milestone, as it observed its First Foundation Day, celebrating a year of excellence in legal education and innovation. The two-day event was a vibrant celebration of the institution’s dedication to shaping future legal leaders. Former Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Justice Gita Mittal and Senior Advocate Navroz Seervai were present.
The celebration was a reflection of a year filled with achievements, growth and unwavering commitment to high-quality legal education with its founding class of 120 students.
The institution focuses on high-quality legal education through a unique approach that combines interdisciplinary learning with playfulness and collaboration. It offers contemporary courses, personalised mentoring and tutorials for peer-to-peer learning. Students participate in practical scenarios through ‘Counsels in Action’ sessions and ‘Readiness at the Workplace’ sessions. The institution also offers workshops influenced by liberal arts traditions.
Justice Gita Mittal, former Chief Justice, the Jammu & Kashmir High Court in her speech on ‘Women Lawyering: My Experiences’ left a lasting impression on the students and faculty. Describing the challenges faced by women in the legal field, she motivated the students to pursue success despite obstacles and setbacks.
Senior Advocate, Navroz Seervai, address was the inaugural event for the ‘Rule of Law’ lecture series. His expertise and wisdom enriched the academic discourse on legal principles and ethics.
Later in the day, students took centre stage with a myriad of engaging activities, showcasing their talents and enthusiasm. From spirited quizzes to dynamic sports events and a captivating band performance, the campus was bustling with the vibrant spirit and diversity that BITS Law School community offers.
