The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) has invited applications for two programmes, offered by its recently launched offshore campus in Zanzibar. IITM Zanzibar campus offers admission into the four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) and two-year Master of Technology (MTech) programmes in data sciences and artificial intelligence (AI).
Both programmes are open to all students across the globe who fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates who are eligible for these programmes can apply online by visiting the official website at iitmz.ac.in. Candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1,500 for both programmes.
There will be a total of 75 seats in the four-year BS programme. The last date to apply for the BS programme is April 15. The total number of seats available for the MTech programme is 25. Candidates should apply for MTech programmes before March 15.
Candidates who are applying to these programmes will have to appear in the screening test. IIT Madras Zanzibar has scheduled the screening test for the BS programme on June 9, 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm. The test for the MTech programme will be conducted on March 31, 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
IITM Zanzibar Admissions: Age limit
As per the age limit, for the BS programme, the candidate must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in the last three years. For the MTech programme, there is no age limit as such. Anyone who meets the minimum eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification can apply.

IIT Madras Zanzibar Admissions: Selection process
The selection of candidates for admission in both programmes involves a three-stage process. In the first stage, all the applications are assessed based on the information provided by the applicant, such as previous academic performance, and curricular or co-curricular achievements.
In the second stage, all candidates whose applications are found complete will have to appear in the screening test. Candidates shortlisted based on their performance in stage 1 and stage 2, will appear in an interview which constitutes Stage 3.
