OP Jindal Global University has unveiled a significant initiative for the upcoming 2024 academic year by announcing its intention to grant more than 2,000 scholarships to deserving students. This decision has been made in honour of the university’s 15th anniversary.
The university’s primary objective is to ensure that young, promising talent is given an equitable chance to access quality education. Consequently, starting from the year 2024, the university plans to extend scholarships to over 60 per cent of newly admitted students.
These scholarships will be allocated based on a merit-cum-means approach and they will be awarded following a comprehensive admission procedure. The eligibility criteria encompass factors such as the annual family income, the scores from the most recent qualifying examination, performance in the JSAT (Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test) or other relevant standardised tests, as well as faculty interview evaluations where applicable.
Professor C Raj Kumar, the founding Vice-Chancellor of the university, expressed, “Over the course of the last 14 years, JGU has granted scholarships totaling more than Rs 250 crores, benefitting nearly half of our student population.”
