Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has introduced a new initiative known as the ‘Raja Jwala Prasad Post Doctoral Fellowship.’ This scheme, launched as part of the Government of India’s Institution of Eminence – BHU program, is designed to foster and empower faculty members who secure external research funding.
Under this program, eligible recipients will receive a one-year fellowship, with the possibility of extension for an additional year contingent upon their performance and the availability of funds through the Institution of Eminence (IoE).
Fellows will enjoy a consolidated monthly salary of Rs 60,000, along with a monthly House Rent Allowance (HRA) of Rs 10,000 and a yearly contingency grant of Rs 50,000. Moreover, fellows will gain access to a wide range of benefits, including healthcare services, library facilities and other university resources.
This initiative enables BHU faculty members who have successfully obtained substantial external research funding to engage and collaborate with young researchers as postdoctoral fellows.
“The Fellowship program holds the potential to significantly enhance research endeavors within the university by attracting a substantial number of young and talented postdoctoral researchers. Furthermore, it contributes to preparing these budding scholars for a successful future in academia and research. BHU seizes this opportunity to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the distinguished engineer Raja Jwala Prasad, who played a pivotal role in the development of BHU’s iconic campus and also served as its Pro Vice Chancellor,” remarked Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain.
