- UK’s CEFAS to fund Marine Science Scholarships for Berhampur University students in Sustainable Seafood and Marine Biodiversity Research
Berhampur University, located in Odisha, has entered into a formal agreement with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) to actively implement the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP).
Under the terms of this accord, the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS), a governmental entity from the United Kingdom, will offer scholarships to a minimum of five students enrolled in the Marine Science Department at the university.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is designed to remain in effect for a minimum period of two years, with the possibility of extensions as per the requirements of both ACU and Berhampur University. The scholarship initiative is specifically established to bolster research efforts in the fields of marine pollution, sustainable seafood, and marine biodiversity. ACU, acting on behalf of the Centre for Environment, Fisheries, and Aquaculture, will provide coverage for tuition fees as well as living expenses.
Vice-Chancellor Geetanjali Dash enthusiastically stated, “We have formalized an MoU with ACU for the successful implementation of the OCPP. Furthermore, we are actively exploring various other areas for potential collaborative research initiatives, as well as fostering opportunities for student and teacher exchange programmes.”
