- Through this collaboration, the university is offering five different courses focusing on applied skills
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force to provide skill-based Bachelor degree programmes to the Agniveers. Applications are now open on the official website of IGNOU. Registration for these courses began on August 1.
Through this collaboration, the university is offering five courses focusing on applied skills: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts Tourism Management, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Science.
These programmes consist of 120 credits, with IGNOU providing 60 credits worth of courses and the remaining 60 credits delivered as in-service skill education by the Armed Forces.
The skill courses offered by the Armed Forces have received approval from the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), the regulatory body for skill education. These programmes are aligned with the recommendations of NEP 2020, which emphasise the integration of higher education with skill development.
The main objective of this partnership is to assist Agniveers in pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree while serving in the Armed Forces. Additionally, the experts involved aim to enhance the employability of Agniveers after their service period.
