Kicking off its mega initiative “Run against Child Abuse”, Little Millennium – one of the leading preschool chains in India, organized a Kids Marathon in Chennai today by inviting children aged 2-10 years to run for this pertinent cause at the YMCA Stadium, Nanthanam, Chennai. The run was vehemently supported by Veteran athlete Padam Shri P T Usha who was present at the event to support the cause and run with the children.
Being a socially conscious organization and backed by its core philosophy of energizing and enhancing childhood, Little Millennium one of the leading preschool chains in India conducted a Kids Marathon, a short distance run by preschool children to support the cause against child abuse and promote healthy development of children. Approx. 1500 children in the age of 2-10 years ran in the marathon. It is estimated that almost 60,000 children and parents have joined this cause, across India, so far.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand R, Vice President, Little Millennium Education Pvt. Ltd. remarked, “We are delighted to commence Little Millennium Kids Marathon in Chennai and honored to have the “Queen of Track and Field” Padam Shri Ms. PT Usha on this occasion. Our rich legacy of having nurtured 1,50,000 children across 750 preschool centers in 150 cities, has made us realize that besides educating and developing children we also have a responsibility of creating an environment which is safe and secure for all children and one that promotes healthy development. Little Millennium follows a zero tolerance policy against child abuse and the key objective of this marathon is to spread awareness in support of this cause amongst the general public. Little Millennium Kids Marathon extends the spirit of sports and physical education by providing young children a platform to run and express themselves freely while using the platform to highlight the importance of an environment that is safe from child abuse.”
Reiterating the seriousness of this cause, Ms. PT Usha said, “Child abuse is a very important cause and I’m very happy to join Little Millennium to raise awareness in support of this cause. Little Millennium preschools are doing a great job in promoting healthy development and a love for running at an early age. I’m glad to be a part of this initiative.”
Elaborating on the expansion plans for Little Millennium in Southern India, Mr. Anand said, “We have a large presence across Chennai and have around 70 preschools operational, nurturing over 5000 children. We have plans to add 20 more preschools in the next 1 year. We are also looking at opening centres in Tamil Nadu, outside Chennai, and plan to open another 100 centres in the state.”
